In 1995, Jan de Ruiter establishes Phoenix Import: wholesaler and importer of spiritual and gift products. Over the years, the company grows, becomes well known, building thus a good name. In 2010, the Holding and B.V. Mani Bhadra are established. At that point, Phoenix Import becomes an operating company of Mani Bhadra BV. As the company kept growing, it further resulted in the founding of Mani Bhadra Germany BV, Mani Bhadra Italy BV and Mani Bhadra France BV. The term Mani Bhadra is Sanskrit and it means ‘the Sharing of Wealth and Prosperity with people in need.’

Corporate responsibility and sustainability
Mani Bhadra BV - Phoenix Import markets products that can contribute to the joy of life and the spiritual maturation of people in general. To the best of our ability, we trace the path from producers to our company, in order to ensure that we do not contribute to any degrading working conditions. In addition, we like to buy from suppliers who empower the most disadvantaged people. We also make an effort to make our business processes more sustainable, for example with the use of sustainable packaging materials. 
We are also a recognised training company for MBO students (secondary vocational education) in the transport and logistics sector.

Yearly, we donate a percentage of our gross sales to charities, towards humanitarian projects that support people in need in Nepal and India, as well as educational and cultural projects. In this way we express the importance we give to doing business responsibly.
